Train Planning, Control & Customer Services

Train planning in the Eastern Cape is now controlled through the new TFR facility at Parktown in Johannesburg. The team in Parktown plan train, locomotive and wagon requirements for the country on a daily basis in an endeavour to achieve the best balance between user needs, equipment availability and operating costs. Train operations are planned a week ahead in terms of the Next Week’s Business Plan. Close liaison with regional staff at East London and Port Elizabeth is maintained.  

Customer Service Managers are stationed at both East London and Port Elizabeth and they attend weekly planning meetings in which traffic expectations are discussed both locally and with head office.
