Overview

Throughout the Freight Transport Databank, corporate identities and names of firms are suppressed to a certain degree and merged into industry classifications. No transport operators are identified apart from obvious parastatal concerns which by the nature of monopoly situation are clearly identifiable. A brief overview of the locations and products of the responding industries has been provided as a background to the freight transport information obtained. In some instances the present freight transport related problems and current usage of the industry have been described, as well as the reasons for choice of a specific mode for their inputs and outputs. Where possible, some photographic illustrations of the freight transport activities of the industries and their production and handling facilities have been included.
